Advertising cards : "In the early 80's and 90's gay picture cards were used exentsively by both national and local firms to advertise pirated K. G. designs, for none of them bear her initials. Since the pictures on these cards are all from her early works, the dates of the cards appear to be the early 80's." Twenty advertising cards from: R.M. Manufacturers of Ladies' and Gents' Furs, Troy, N.Y.; Hood's Tooth Powder; H.C. Church & Son Dalers in Fancy and Plain Stationery, Blank Books, Albums, Velvet Frames, Pocket Books, & c. Large Assortment of Advertising Cards; Forbes and Wallace, Geo. A. Shaw, with Hirshberg & Samuels; Cill's Art Store; S. W. Barrows & Co., Marcus Ward & Co. (has verse signed F.G.H. Christmas Card; and one with no identifying marks. Box containing 13 buttons of various sizes with scenes from Kate Greenaway's work. "Brass picture-buttons brightened many a costume in the 1880's and 1890's. Several of the designs were taken from Kate Greenaway's drawings. Note the designs of "spring" and "summer" in the 1883 almanack and the "Little Bo-Peep" in her Mother Goose." Four hand held fans adapted from the book Under the Window. Two with gold background and red and cream figures, two with silver backgrounds and blue and cream figures. Pictures of little girl sitting on a wooden fence in the spring or summer. There are flowers around the figures. The other has a boy and a girl sitting on a stone fence playing with snails. There are flowers around the figures. Rewards for merit. Calling cards (visiting cards) Summer card with 2 girls hugging. Summer card signed Walter R. Reicharde. Winter card 2 girls in winter clothes walking. Three photocopied pages from the cloth book Three Little Fishes. Spring and Summer Styles in Straw (hats) for Albert Shumway 1881. Cards from the Victoria and Albert Museum: illustrations from Book of Games, 1889, all share the sentiment Best Wishes "Hoops" shows street scene with houses and people, in foreground are 4 young ladies playing hoops, wearing coats and one dressed in green coat running behind them, "Blind Man's Bluff" shows 7 girls, one blindfolded, all in long dresses with pink, blue or yellow sashes in a room with a blue door, blue drapes, a large vase, wooden chair and wooden cabinet, #261"Kites," shows 3 children flying a kite (2 girls one with blue and white dotted dress, one with orange dress with pinafore and 1 boy wearing orange shirt and pants all wearing hats) outside, with trees, , #262. Christmas card has blue fringe on outside edge. side 1 "Wishing you a merry Christmas" shoes girl putting holly in a vase on shelf (on tiptoes) holly on floor; side 2, 2 children ice skating (wind mill in background); Raphael Luck and Sons Publisher. Card "With my best wishes for the season" shows young lady in blue dress with pink umbrella, tree and 2 birds. Card grey card with circle picture attached to the front shows two young ladies, one taller than the other, both wearing red coats with fur trim, one is carrying a muff and both are wearing red hats with bows on them. They are in the snow at night, a tree in the background. Note inside "Dear Mother" signed "Best Wishes, Jim" back of card has December FTN 53 Kate Greenaway (1846-1901) from 1890 Almanac. This picture available as a postcard (FT 92) and a notecard (FTN 53) The Green Tiger Press, LaJolla, California. Postcards: from Merrimack Publishing Company No. 1798S; one card has a woman sitting at table knitting with a little girl holding a closed umbrella, sent to Mrs. Earnest Amy from Ellen Cameron Wilson; the other postcard has a group of children dancing around a large pie, sent to Mrs. Earnest Amy from Mary Ingraham; postcard from Raphael Tuck & Sons has the verse, "LIttle Tom Tucker Sings for his supper What does he sing for? White bread and butter." Wishing you a merry Christmas! at the bottom right of the card. A boy singing, girl standing on chair cutting bread. Cat is on the card; card from Marcus Ward & Co., verse "If e'er you make a lucky hit be sure you make the best of it." Picture shows scene from Robin Hood poem, has 5 children, right to left, Robin, Tuck, Will Scarlet, Marion, Allan-a-dale, A Happy New Year is on the lower left. Cards, folded sheet of paper 12" x 14" - two similar, both have girls in green dresses, one is holding a green umbrella and has a green collar, straw hat with a pink band and burgandy flower which matches one in the bouquet she is carrying and the other one (in Box 2) a blue umbrella and has a blue and green collar, straw hat with a green band and pink flower which matches some in her bouquet. Both girls are wearing dark shoes, long dark gloves, and dark bows on their dresses. Photograph of "The Squirrel." Photocopies of the front cover of Three Little Fishes book and 2 copies of "Wading in the Brook." 1881 Spring and Summer Styles in Straw manufactured for Albert Shumway. Kate Greenaway drawings are throughout. Purple folder contains an article "Art in the Home and in the School: a Selection from the Child Types" of Kate Greenaway by Irene Sargent; Publisher's Weekly, XXI, December 7, 1946 article about Kate Greenaway; page 32 of Inman's Book Shop catalog showing an original water color drawing representing a group of five dancing maidens. Three pages from a magazine showing Kate Greenaway clothes. Box 2 contains a hornbook. Box 2 contains 5 negatives of items and 1 photograph of the green box some almanacks are housed in with an almanack on either side. The box also contains an 8" x 10" photograph of a figurine of four young ladies in a circle holding hands. Each box contains an envelope of correspondence, bills of sale, catalog listings of Dr. Ernest F. Amy. Box 1 has a notepad with notes on the collection. Also numerous bills of sale, correspondence with a variety of people about collecting and about the collection. Blurbs cut out of magazines and catalogs.
